As stated above, Jeff Schanche filed to run for his current position, but there were no other applicants that filed to run for Clerk.

As for the Supervisor position, there was only one candidate to file for this position. Julie Lucas has applied to run for Supervisor on the Board. Here is an introduction with a little background information from Julie:

Greetings! The election for French Township Supervisor is on Tuesday, March 8th, and I would appreciate your vote. I joined our community in 2007 and have been an active volunteer pulling folks together through Side Lake Strong, which has included free fitness classes at the Rec, hikes/snowshoe excursions, kayaking adventures on our beautiful lakes, and sunset yoga at McCarthy Beach State Park. The health and safety of our community members is a high priority for me and my husband, Matt. He is a life-long French Township resident who has been on the French Fire and EMS Department since 1998.

My educational and professional background is in Water Resources, and I will bring extensive management experience to the Township Board, including: oversight and management of projects, engagement with government agencies, and responsible financial stewardship. I have served on the United Way of NE MN Board of Directors for eight years and was President of the Board 2018-2019.  In addition, I served on the Board of the Minnesota Section of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) and was Chair 2016-2017.

French Township is where I have chosen to build my home, my life, and my community. To be able to contribute my skills and passion to our Township Board would be an honor. Thank you for your consideration.”
