Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the Fourth of July events here in Side Lake! Our Side Lake Events Committee works very hard year round to make these events happen. We could not do it without the support of our area businesses and all who attend and partake in each event.
During the Fourth of July, we had two very successful events, the Firecracker 5K and the Side Lake Fourth of July Parade. This year’s 2022 Firecracker 5k walk/run was a success! We had 203 registered participants, thirty-one volunteers, and many spectators throughout the route! Through generous donations and a well-attended event, we were able to raise $4240.00 through the Firecracker 5K! All profits raised go back to support not only the 5k, but also all Side Lake events which are held throughout the year. With the profits made in 2019, we were able to invest in point-to-point radios to use during our Side Lake events. The radios were a much-needed investment to help all of the Side Lake events through providing a means of communication for the safety and well-being of all of our attendees and participants.
The Side Lake 2022 Fourth of July Parade was held on July 4th, and, after taking a two year hiatus due to the implications Covid had on our events, I am happy to report the attendance from the spectators this year was AMAZING! Side Lake had not lost their Fourth of July spirit! It was so nice to see everyone along the parade route smiling and enjoying each other’s company. The Side Lake Events Committee would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our community member volunteers, Chisholm EMS, Town of French Fire and EMS, and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department in making this year’s Fourth of July Parade and Firecracker 5K events possible! See you all in August as we get together to “Celebrate Side Lake!”
