Love the Side Lake Community? Interested in helping to make it an even better place to live and ensure that our lakes (Big Sturgeon, Little Sturgeon, South Sturgeon, West Sturgeon, Side Lake, Beatrice Lake, and Perch Lake) stay clean and healthy, well into the future? WE NEED YOU!
WHAT ARE WE CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
-Building membership! We need your membership and support to ensure a stronger voice on the issues that matter to our community, to recruit more volunteers to help do the work that needs to be done, and to maintain the financial strength we need to move forward on important projects.
-Building strong and lasting partnerships with the Township, DNR, and St. Louis/Itasca Counties so that we are all working towards the same goal – keeping our community and lakes healthy and strong!
-Working with the DNR and our legislators to get our water levels back to normal and permanently setting the static level of the dam at a level that makes everyone happy.
-Ensuring that our channels are clear of debris and deep enough to safely navigate with boats, pontoons, and PWC without the fear of property damage.
-Partnering with the DNR and St. Louis/Itasca Counties to keep our lakes stocked with fish and free of devastating Aquatic Invasive Species.
POTENTIAL FUTURE PROJECTS:
-Dredging the Little Sturgeon channel and putting in break-walls to maintain depth and width.
-Working with the Township and St. Louis/Itasca Counties to create bike/walking paths or lanes on the main roads throughout the community.
