Minutes of the November 12, 2024 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Board members present: Supervisor Varichak, Supervisor Reini, Supervisor Lucas, Deputy Clerk Sandys,
Treasurer Samsa.

October meeting notes were read. Motion to approve by Reini, second by Varichak, motion carried.
September meeting notes were read. Motion to approve by Varichak, second by Reini, motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer’s Reports for September and October were read and approved read with a motion by Varichak,
second by Reini, motion carried.
Second county payment is expected to come by first week of December. Recommendation by Treasurer to transfer $20,000 from general savings to general checking to cover road bridge expenses. Motion by Varichak, second by Reini, motion carried.

Fire Report
There were 2 fire calls and 9 EMS calls in September. There were 2 fire calls and 2 EMS calls in October.
Training was auto extrication with donated cars. Received $200 in donations.
Unorganized Fire Protection and Fire Response agreement for 2025 motion to approve Varichak, second by Reini. Motion approved. Signed by Lucas and Sandys.

Buildings and Grounds Report
Pavilion winterized. Changed out boards on rink. Stumps being removed at post office. Patch done on
Belschner. New antenna being installed for internet. Tractor/mower put away. Plow equipment set up and
ready to go. September 7 rentals, October 6 rentals.

Rec Report
Dates set for 2025 Rec Program (June 9 – July 31), same days (Mon, Tues, Th).
Pickleball continuously fundraising. Received funding from St. Louis County – $4,000. Discussed Paul Bunyan Sponsorship of $10,000. Lisa reaching out to Township attorney and will report back at December meeting. Group requested a one-time $500 for start-up costs of printing and postage. Motion made by Varichak to approve, second by Reini. Motion approved.

Roads
Sellars Road culvert replacement discussed. Motion made to do work now instead of Spring. by Reini, second by Varichak, motion carried.

Old Business
Paul Bunyan Communication – Perch Lake, Luna Lake, Beatrice Lake, Tressel Lake and the snake trail (total
less than 10 miles) are committed to construction season 2025. Rep from CNS confirmed permits are in the works and shared a map of plans.
Short Term Rentals – If you are renting it out for a certain number of days, you must fill out short term rental paperwork and get a conditional use permit or performance standard permit. Listing should limit occupancy for septic reasons, signs for house rules, noise, and aquatic invasive species.
Snow Plowing quote from Side Lake Services for $2,600 for 11/1/2024 – 10/31/2025 – increase by $100.
Motion by Reini to accept bid, second by Varichak, motion carried.

New Business
Holiday Hope Fundraiser request discussed, concerns and questions were raised about township involvement and insurance. Sandys to follow up with Hannah Aldrich on questions.

No additional correspondence was read.

Motion by Reini, second by Varichak to approve the bills, motion carried.

Motion by Varichak, second by Reini to adjourn at 8:16 p.m., motion carried.
