Here’s what’s new since we last posted – so much work has been done and many improvements made!
The Side Lake Community Columbarium has come a long way in the last year! We are so proud to be able to offer a final resting place right here in our area for those who are connected to Side Lake and wish to remain in this beautiful location. If you haven’t had a chance to come and see this beautiful site, you should make a point to drive through our easily accessible circular driveway and check it out!
7516 Highway 5, Side Lake, MN
We have installed a memorial plaque on this beautiful monument boulder to dedicate this site to Vern Nelson:
“The community of Side Lake would like to thank Janis Johnson for the donation of this property to honor the memory of her parents, Vern and Irene Nelson. The Nelsons made this site their home after moving to Side Lake from Bear River in 1947. Vern, well known in this area, was always willing to help those in need. His kind spirit will carry on through this donation by allowing those who are connected to Side Lake to make this their final resting place.”
We have added benches around the Columbarium so those who visit the site have a place to sit and reflect while remembering their loved ones.
We have also installed a lighted flagpole near the memorial monument at the Columbarium and a fence along the back edge of the property to offer more privacy and for aesthetics.
