Tuesday, January 3, 2012 through Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
The following officers are up for election on March 12, 2012:
1 SUPERVISOR .......................................3 YEAR TERM
1 CLERK................................................... 2 YEAR TERM
Filing Fee: $2.00

SIDE LAKE “DOER’s” CLUB IN FULL SWING! |

In case you did not hear, we have a new gust of energy in Side Lake…It’s a group of volunteers who are bringing back the community cohesiveness and energy of those people who were responsible for bringing us our Side Lake Community Center and Recreation facilities, back in the 1980’s. Believe it or not, some of those original volunteers are back for a second-helping! …..(literally) Thank you! You inspire the rest of us.
OK, so we had our first “Pot Luck” dinner on Saturday, April 2nd, at the Community Center. We had 23 people in attendance, and the food was great! Our numbers have grown since then, to 37 (and as the “Snow Birds” continue to return home, we expect that number to grow)! The first project we’ve chosen is the “sprucing-up” of the Community Center Hall. That rough-saw cedar that runs half-way up the walls has served us well, over the years, but is showing it’s age. Since it cannot be washed or kept clean, we’re replacing it with Tongue & Groove Knotty-Pine. The upper walls will see new sheet rock. Two new windows are going in this weekend (April 10-11) so we can start…we’re painting the ceiling, then attacking the drywall and pine paneling.
We’re also going to rejuvenate our Annual Spring Litter Pick-Up, so keep your eyes open for dates.
The Post Office got new flooring (shortly after the new flooring was installed at the Community Center) so we need some help making that structure look as good as the new floors.
Here’s a list of the current members; if you see the name of a friend or neighbor, you might want to contact her/him about getting in on this activity. Hey! The “Pot Lucks” alone are worth joining!
The French Town Board is supporting this (and are also “DOER‘s“) but are not going to “micro-manage” this…it’s going to be “Community Centered!”

For those of you who have been here before, you can see the new and improved Side Lake website. We have a new webmaster who has been busy updating this site. If you have any activities planned for the summer of community interest, click on the link to the the Webmaster and send a message. We hope to have a system that will allow individuals to use the calendar to see when the Community Center or Pavilion is available for rental, and subsequently “book” their date. Hopefully, we’ll be able to provide “slide shows” of various Side Lake events (the World-Famous Side Lake Fourth of July Parade?) and links to area businesses and local government. So “stay-tuned” folks!
